One week from today, I will host an event with my PTKO colleagues in DC where we’ll share strategies for capturing unique metrics that matter to the unique needs of different organizations, and more importantly, how to figure out which strategy is right for yours.
We’ve spoken before about how Google Analytics gets more powerful as you dig deeper into its capabilities. But we’ve also spoken about how its out-of-the-box offerings are a bit limited, and its real power comes in when you make the effort to customize it to your needs.
In this talk we’ll explore a few examples of how drastically different organizations, each with their own circumstances, might choose to enhance their analytics to measure the state of their technology, the performance of their content, and their audiences’ engagement.
Google Analytics is extremely versatile. So much so that the hard part is often figuring out which customizations are right for your needs, trimming down to what is useful from the endless possibilities.
This kind of right-fitting is central to what we do, so we’ll describe our process for identifying key moments and data points that can make the biggest difference in your publishing and marketing.
Lastly, we’re planning on an analytics giveaway: We’ll discuss 5 things you can do TODAY to make sure that you are taking advantage of Google Analytics’ native features and configurations. They are buried deep in the corners of GA’s admin interface, so if you send us a link to any of your GA reports we’ll email you back with a set direct links to the Google Analytics settings you need, plus instructions for how to set them… (Note that at no point during this exercise will we actually have access to your data, we’re just so good at GA that we can navigate it for you blind)
